Mandarin (Modern Standard Chinese)

Mandarin

Mandarin is the largest branch of the Sinitic languages. Mandarin varieties are natively spoken by 70% of all Chinese speakers – nearly one billion people primarily across northern and southwestern China.

Modern Standard Chinese (Putonghua/Guoyu), based on the Beijing dialect, serves as the official lingua franca of China, Taiwan, and Singapore. It is a tonal, analytic language featuring a Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) structure.
