Why is pizza round but come in a square box and the slices are triangles?
Why don’t they call it cheesy shapes?
If you’re anything like me, then you read that “joke” in a Jerry Seinfeld voice.
What gives?
There is actually a pretty solid reason why pizza is round:
– Round pizzas are easier and quicker to cut than other shapes, such as squares.
– The round shape also comes from the way pizza dough is created, stretched, and shaped. It just works better.
There is actually a pretty solid reason why boxes are square:
– Square boxes are much easier to make. We are needing only one piece of cardboard. (Round boxes need a few pieces.)
There is actually a pretty solid reason why pizza is cut into triangles:
– Pizza is cut into triangle slices because that is the most common way to equally divide a circle – think of a pie chart.
